A Poll of over 12,000 UK office workers has thrown up some rather worrying concerns with their work spaces including location, heating and access to good lighting (both natural and artificial).
Access to natural light was the number one desirable trait that Brits want from an office. While its not easy to upgrade existing premises to allow for more access natural light, certain steps can be taken to ensure that employees are given a quality and near daylight like colour from any updated office lighting scheme. A well designed and installed Tunable White LED lighting scheme can help mimic the natural circadian rhythms that we desire as humans. Even if this level of lighting system is beyond the budgetary levels of the updated lighting system, the access to more local control and quality of a new lighting upgrade can not only improve working conditions but help save energy and ultimately help save the building occupier money.
..... a third of UK workers were unhappy with the light levels at work, with just 21pc able to alter the settings. "Everybody is different and personal preference will depend on an individual’s natural physiology, their mood on a particular day and the task they are working on," Ms Congdon said. "To cater to these constantly changing needs, employers should pay more attention to providing a range of working environments, including the ability to adjust workspace basics as required."
